Privacy Policy

What we collect

When you sign in to GTM Buddy with Google, we receive and temporarily store:

  • Your basic Google profile information (name, email address, profile picture URL).
  • An OAuth access token and refresh token issued by Google, scoped to Google Tag Manager and basic profile/email scopes.

We do not collect or store your Google password. Authentication is handled entirely by Google.

How we use it

Your profile information is used solely to identify you within the app interface. Your OAuth tokens are used solely to call the Google Tag Manager API on your behalf for the operations you initiate (browsing, copying, updating, deleting GTM entities). We do not use your data for analytics, advertising, profiling, or any third-party purposes.

Where it is stored

Tokens and session data are stored on the application server in an encrypted-at-rest file store. Sessions automatically expire 4 hours after sign-in, after which the tokens are deleted. We do not retain any GTM container data on the server — the app fetches data from the GTM API on demand and discards it when your session ends.

Third-party services

GTM Buddy interacts with Google’s services (OAuth 2.0, Google Tag Manager API). Your use of these services is governed by Google’s own Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.

Your rights

You may revoke GTM Buddy’s access at any time from your Google account permissions page. You may also sign out of GTM Buddy at any time, which immediately destroys your server-side session.

To request deletion of any residual data tied to your account, contact us at the address below.

Cookies

GTM Buddy uses a single HTTP-only session cookie to keep you signed in. This cookie expires after 4 hours and contains a random session identifier. We do not use third-party tracking cookies.

Terms of Service

The service

GTM Buddy is a web application that provides bulk operation tools on top of the Google Tag Manager API. By using GTM Buddy, you agree to these terms.

Acceptable use

You agree to use GTM Buddy only for lawful purposes and only on Google Tag Manager containers and accounts you are authorized to manage. You will not attempt to circumvent, abuse, or overload the service.

No warranty

GTM Buddy is provided “as is” without any warranty of any kind, express or implied. While we make every reasonable effort to ensure the application works correctly, you are solely responsible for verifying the results of any operation, especially destructive ones (bulk delete, cross-container update/delete). We strongly recommend exporting backups before performing bulk modifications.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, GTM Buddy and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of revenue, or damage to your Google Tag Manager configuration, arising out of your use of the service.

Changes

We may update these terms from time to time. Significant changes will be communicated through the application or via email. Continued use of GTM Buddy after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
